There were two desires God had placed in my heart long before I ever knew how they would come together. On one hand, I had a deep longing to teach Scripture at a seminary level to specifically help future ministers grow in doctrine, to handle the Word with precision, and to equip men for ministry. On the other hand, I carried a burden for those inside correctional facilities. I didn’t just want to visit; I wanted to bring real teaching, real discipleship, and real hope behind those walls.
For years, those desires sat side by side, but I couldn’t see a path where both could exist at the same time. I didn’t know of any ministry that combined seminary-level teaching with prison ministry. I didn’t know such a thing was even possible. I simply prayed, waited, and trusted that if God had put both desires in me, He would make sense of them in His timing.
Then God brought Nathan into my life.
In a simple conversation, he introduced me to MINTS, a ministry I had never heard of, one that does exactly what I had been praying for without knowing it existed. Seminary-level theological training inside correctional facilities. Men being discipled, equipped, and trained for ministry right where they are. A door I didn’t even know to look for suddenly opened in front of me.
It was one of those moments where you realize God had been working behind the scenes the entire time. The desires weren’t random. The burden wasn’t accidental. The timing wasn’t coincidence. God had prepared a path that matched the calling He had already placed in my heart.
MINTS wasn’t just an opportunity; it was an answer to prayer.
And now, by His grace, I get to teach weekly inside the facility, opening Scripture with men who are hungry to learn, eager to grow, and ready to be transformed by the gospel. It’s humbling. It’s joyful. And it’s exactly what I asked God for, even before I knew how to ask.
This is the beginning of the ministry updates I’ll be sharing here stories of God’s faithfulness, glimpses of what He’s doing inside the prison, and reflections on the work He continues to unfold. I’m grateful you’re here, and I’m grateful to share what He’s doing. Grace and peace.
